Last night I finally completed my first ever real knitting project.. I present to you The Pompatus of Love Blanket! I made it for my Grandfather, who's name happens to be Maurice. (Some people call him Maurice...)
As you've probably gathered from the photos, The Pompatus is just basic squares woven together into a checkered pattern. I used about a skein and a half each of Caron's "Simply Soft" yarn in Country Blue and Bone.
I've known how to knit for a while but until this summer I never progressed past making pot holders; Creating the Pompatus still only involved making basic squares, but now, after knitting 12 of those suckers I am definitely ready for a more challenging project.
xo, Jenny.

Jenny, I think it's cool that you are knitting. You know, I had my mother teach me how to knit. I can knit and purl and that's it. I was making a blanket with tiny needles and was halfway done when someone sat on it and pulled out like 50 stitches! I had no idea how to fix it so I have a blue yarn knotted mess in a grocery bag somewhere... I wish I knew the gratification of a completed project!
