My first foray into deviled eggs, I would say, was a success.
My lovely, brilliant friend Martine held the inaugural Baltimore Deviled Egg Pageant last year. The deviled egg pageant is a friendly (read: fierce) competition which I suspect was started partially as an excuse for Martine to show everyone how brilliant she is in the kitchen and partially for Martine to eat all the deviled eggs she can bear.
I didn't live here last year, so this was my first time participating. It was also, as I mentioned above, my first time making deviled eggs.
A few months ago, while thrifting, I came across this egg press:
The only big difference between my version and the recipe version is that I did not use Star Anise because I couldn't find it. For my soy sauce marinate mixture I used regular Anise, but did not put any in the yolk mixture.

All in all, a wonderful way to spend my Baltiversary.
